Nicki de Leon
After 25 years as a Physio, Nicki still absolutely loves what she does!! With a BSc (hons) from Leeds in Physiotherapy and an MSc from UCL in Neuromusculoskeletal Physiotherapy, Nicki has had a wonderfully varied career predominantly in London and with a stint in Sydney, Australia. Early on in her career Nicki worked in the football world part-time, as a physio at QPR Academy and Edgware Town 1st team. Whilst completing her Masters, Nicki was approached to work with the British Paralympic Swimming team, which she did for almost 4 years, including working with them at the Athens Paralympics in 2004 and the World Championships in Argentina in 2002. Since 2004, Nicki has worked very closely with the internationally renowned contemporary dance company ‘Company Wayne McGregor’ as their Consultant Physiotherapist. In this role, she provides physiotherapy for their dancers and injury prevention musculoskeletal screenings. In the last few years, Nicki and her team have also been involved in the film industry, providing physiotherapy care on the sets of major films including Cats and Matilda.
10 years ago, Nicki opened up de Leon Physio and works as the Clinical Director seeing the clinic grow and go from strength to strength. Nicki’s approach to physiotherapy and rehabilitation is exceptionally functional and dynamic, addressing the way people move and optimising their biomechanics to offload the injury and prevent recurrence. This approach involves a combination of active rehabilitation exercises, movement analysis and manual therapy. Part of Nicki’s repertoire includes Clinical Reformer Pilates and acupuncture and it is safe to say that Nicki specialises in all aspects of musculoskeletal and sports injuries management.
Nicki has a great interest in fitness, having run marathons and completed many triathlons over the years and in recent years has focused more on strength and conditioning. These interests have a significant carry over into her clinical practice.
